“Free World” was an installation made at the Vermont Studio Center in 2017 and was created as a public intervention piece. The collage is comprised of articles from the June 2017 Brooklyn Rail magazine. During an open studio night visitors were encouraged to highlight words from the articles that resonated with them and color in the wall adjacent to the collage where the words “FREE WORLD” were incised by the artist in the making of the newsprint collage. Words highlighted by the public include: “real life stories” “of a new Black power art,” “making space,” “friends here,” “rode with me into the city,” “we can only dream” etc....
