“Los Muertos No Salen” was a multimedia installation created at The University of Pennsylvania in 2016. This work is an example of a project that brings together sculpture, digital animation, projection, audio and photo based imagery as a yearning towards the artist’s mother’s home country of Venezuela. Family herstories are shared through the audio including hardships of immigration, higher education, overcoming poverty and women’s stores. Based on the phenomenon of the afterimage, this work recalls a short but intense memory of the high noon sun in Anaco, Venezuela.
